Paradise Installation

The installation was constructed through a repetitive process of photographing and rephotographing. The work expands outwards using images that deteriorate in quality each time they are rephotographed. The degraded images are foregrounded – causing the installation to collapse into an abstraction that physically and visually distances the viewer from the original image. The installation brings up questions of the status of an image that comes from a copy of a copy of a copy. Since these hyper-copied images deliver the experience of the installation, the question is then shifted to the status of all experiences that are influenced by endlessly reproduced materials that have questionable and untraceable origins. Accompanying the installation was an online project on Google Maps. (See Paradise_Google Maps_Virtual_Installation tab)
